2nd Edition of Rotachess Tournament gets good response,

The second edition of the RCMIC Rotachess organised by YMCA Physical Activities Committee in Association with Rotary Club of Madras Industrial City jointly with T Nagar Chess Academy at YMCA Royapettah on Sunday 23rd June had a tremendous response from Chess enthusiasts from across India with the registration touching 595 which includes 9 Grand Masters,15 International Masters and 3 Women International Masters

The tournament was inaugurated by Mr L V Navneeth, CEO of the Hindu Group, while the Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function was Mr. Nawabzada Mohammed Asif Ali.

The total prize money was Rs 600,000 {six lakhs }. The FIDE approved Rapid Chess Tournament saw many young and younger. boys and girls participated enthusiastically.

Rtn Gopinath,Chairman of the Chess Tournament said, We are delighted with the response from students and professionals.He congratulated all participants who had come braving the heat from different parts of India making the entire effort worthwhile. He thanked the team, sponsors and YMCA officials for their whole hearted support.

The 1st Prize winner of Rs 80,000/ cash is GM Vaibhav Suri,
2nd prize Rs 50,000/= winner GM Pranesh M ,the third prize was won by IM A R Ilamparthi taking home Rs 40,000/-

There were 100 others winners who took home cash prizes ranging from Rs 1000/-,5000/-,10,000/- 25000/- and also Trophies etc.,

Rtn Gopinath assured the participants that the tournament will become bigger and better with every passing year.
