3000 underprivileged women screened through iBreast Exam powerful screening tool for early detection of Breast Cancer

Breast cancer is the world’s most prevalent cancer. One in five diagnosed breast cancer cases are now in women under the age of 50. In India, the incidence of breast cancer has overtaken cervical cancer to become the most common cancer in Indian women. One woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every four minutes. One in every two Indian women with breast cancer do not survive.

Late detection is the primary cause for increased morbidity and mortality. Clinical breast examination and breast self-examination have not been shown to reduce mortality significantly from breast cancer. Current methods of screening such as Ultrasound, Mammography and MRI have drawbacks which prevent their usage as mass screening tools which are essential to cover the large Indian population.

Early detection remains the cornerstone of breast cancer control in order to improve breast cancer outcome and survival.

The iBreast Exam is an innovative initiative, which is specifically targeted at women and is part of the women-wellness initiatives, carried out by Lifeline Multispeciality Hospitals, Chennai. The iBreast Exam is a powerful screening tool for breast lumps which is completely painless and radiation-free that enables very early detection of breast lumps. iBreast Exam uses patented sensor technology to distinguish breast tumors from normal breast tissue in real-time. The iBreast Exam takes just 5 minutes to perform and delivers life-saving benefits to women of all ages.
