Chennai, July-2024: Every year We Wonder Women, a charitable non government organization, honors women who have made significant contributions in a variety of fields, including business, entertainment, education, and activism. The awards are open to women of all ages and backgrounds. The inaugural function of the 7th edition of this program was held at the Anna Centenary Library in Chennai. Actor and Film Director Ms. Lakshmi Ramakrishna joined as a Special guest to launch the 7th Edition of We Wonder Women Awards poster. The event conclave posters launched by Dr. E. Khalieraaj, Director of the National Cyber Security Research Council (NCSRC) in New Delhi and Vice President of the INDO Russian IT Association (IRITA) and Tmt. A.S Kumari, Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu State Commission for Women.
We Wonder Women & Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, Coimbatore jointly hosting a Conclave on Cybercrime against Women supported by NCSRC(National Cyber Security Research Council), Tamilnadu Magalir Anayam and IRITA (INDO RUSSIAN IT ASSOCIATION) on this 24th August, in Chennai to address the alarming rise of cybercrimes targeting women. Ensuring women’s safety online is integral to promoting gender equality and ensuring that women can enjoy the same freedoms and opportunities as men in the digital world. This event is an important step towards combating cybercrime and creating a safer digital space for women. By addressing cyber crimes against women, the conclave empowers women to participate confidently and freely in digital spaces without fear of harassment or abuse.
Dr.Khalieraaj said, “This conclave emphasizes the importance of digital literacy, helping women understand how to navigate the internet safely and securely. Also provides a platform to discuss and develop robust legal and policy frameworks to combat cybercrimes against women effectively.”.
Tmt. A.S Kumari stated, ” The increasing use of the internet and digital technologies has led to a rise in cybercrimes targeting women, including harassment, cyberstalking, revenge porn, and online threats. Ensuring women’s safety online is integral to promoting gender equality and ensuring that women can enjoy the same freedoms and opportunities as men in the digital world.”
As in the same We Wonder Women organizing an Awareness run to create awareness in public about the Cybercrime against Women in the name of FREEDOM RUN on 18th August 2024, in Coimbatore. This Marathon posters & T-shirt was unveiled by Thiru. Arasu Deveneyam, Founder Director of Thozamai Trust.
Thiru Arasu Devaneyam said, “This marathon strengthens the voices of women affected by cybercrime and advocates for their rights. It drives societal change by challenging harmful norms and behaviours that perpetuate online violence against women. Establishing support systems for victims of cybercrime is a critical aspect. This Run create awareness to public about to handle the digital environment without fear and ensure their rights are protected and their voices are heard.
The organizers Ms. Shanmugapriya, Director and Ms. Subitha Justin, Managing Trustee of We Wonder Women stated that, WE WONDER WOMEN provides opportunities and brings out the talent and voices of all women our aim is to provide a platform for unsung sheroes who are created their own identity in their field. We Make the women of past proud, current inspired, and the future envisioned. We take this opportunity to recommit ourselves to the cause of combating cybercrime against women. Together, we can build a future where the internet is a safe and empowering space for everyone.
