Chennai, November 2023: On World Diabetes Day, Gleneagles HealthCity Chennai, a leading multi-speciality quaternary healthcare centre in Chennai, along with Zaara Cinic, Kilpauk and Elim Clinic Sithalapakkam organised a diabetic awareness and screening camp for police personnel under Tambaram Commissionerate on November 14. Dr. A Amalraj, commissioner, Tambaram City Police inaugurated the camp.
More than 150 police personnel attended the camp which was aimed to educate the police personnel and to check their health status. On the occasion doctors gave suggestions pertaining to various diet plans and exercise for maintaining a healthy lifestyle amidst hectic work schedules. The police personnel underwent a battery of tests including the basic diabetes test, blood pressure, blood sugar test, cholesterol, and creatinine test.
Dr. Alok Khullar, CEO, Gleneagles HealthCity Chennai, said “High prevalence of diabetes among police officers include job stress, irregular eating habits, lack of regular exercise, Inadequate sleep, and other reasons. Those with diabetes are very likely to suffer heart attacks and strokes and blindless. Police personnel should focus on healthy eating well to manage blood glucose levels. Regular exercise along with medication will complement this,” added Dr Alok.
