Chennai, August , 2023: With a serious commitment to create a meaningful impact in the society in lieu of ‘World Organ Donation Day’ – 13th August,2023, Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU, Chennai), a leading kidney care specialist in India and Chennai ’s largest nephrology and urology healthcare specialty center today organized a notable walkathon at Besant Nagar, Chennai. Flagged off by senior consultants of AINU, the awareness drive witnessed more than 100 volunteers enthusiastically walking across the busy streets covering several kilometers.
The walkathon sensitized the public regarding the indispensable need for organ donation in the nation through educational placards and posters carried by the volunteers. A couple of transplant patients who had undergone successful kidney transplants at AINU also shared her inspiring testimonials to the crowds that gathered, as they were moved by their remarkable comeback since the surgery.
