DISTRICT CHESS TOURNAMENT AND FREE ORTHOPEDIC AND DENTALMEDICAL CAMPS BROUGHTCOMMUNITY TOGETHER

Chennai, July 2024 — Vasavi Clubs International District V502A, VCV Elite Chennai and TIME2CHESS hosted a vibrant chess tournament at Maharishi Vidya Mandir in Tiruvottiyur. The event featured categories for kids (ages 7 to 16) and an open category for participants aged 16 and above. The tournament saw enthusiastic participation from many young chess enthusiasts.

The inauguration ceremony was organised by the Project chairmans Mr.B.L.Kumarvel and Mrs.Chitra Kumarvel, Chair persons, Mr.Surichetty Balaji and Mrs.Surichetty Divya Balaji, Co-Chairpersons and presidents of  vasavi club, chennai. The event was presided by the distinguished guests, Mr.R.Ravichandran, International president – VCI, Mrs.Rashmi Oleti, Governor.

In conjunction with the chess tournament, Vasavi Club 2 JCGF Elite Chennai and Vasavi Club Vanitha Elite Chennai organized a free Orthopedic and Dental camp. The Orthopedic camp was led by Dr. Ramesh Babu S, Director and Chief Orthopedic surgeon, Spot Hospitals at Kodambakkam., while the dental camp was under the expert guidance of 

Dr. P. JayaKumar MDS, Periodontist, Dental Clinic in Nungambakkam. These medical camps provided valuable services to the residents of Tiruvottiyur, who benefitted greatly from the free consultations and treatments. 

Around 175 participants were awarded a certificate, medal, and gift, celebrating their involvement in the competition. TheUnder 16 category winners were honoured with cash prizesby the Project Chairman Mr.B.L.Kumarvel, the first prize Rs.5000 and One gram gold coin received by  PRAJESH.BU, the second prize Rs.3000 received by  ANANYAR , and the third prize Rs.2000 received by NISHANTH T.R.         

The winners of open category were honoured with cash prizes by Mr.Surichetty Balaji, Co-Chairperson the first prize Rs.5000 and one gram gold coin received by PAVAN ANAND, the second prize Rs.3000 received by HARIDEV.S, and the third prize Rs.2000 received by NIKILESH A.U.                                         

Additionally, the all rounder winner in each category was awarded by 1gram gold coin and top ten participants in each category received cups as recognition for their exceptional performances.

The mind blowing motivational speech was given by Mrs.Surichetty Divya Balaji, Co-Chairperson, which has inspired the students and enthralled the audience.

The Project chairman Mr.B.L.Kumarvel, Chairperson,Mr.Surichetty Balaji, Co-Chairperson and presidents of the club were honoured for organising a grand district chess event.

Mrs.Harshini Rajram, Project head of Maharishi Vidya mandir, Thiruvottiyur was thanked for contributing a grand space to conduct the district chess event successfully.   

The event was marked by its warm hospitality, making it a memorable day for participants and visitors alike.

The entire campus was bustling with activity, filled with participants and visitors. The event’s organization and the hospitality extended to all attendees received widespread appreciation. Overall, the day was a resounding success, bringing together the community in a celebration of skill, health, and camaraderie.
