NATIONAL OPEN ROTARY PARA TABLE TENNIS TOURNAMENT – SEASON3

The National Open Rotary Para Table Tennis Tournament organised by the Rotary Club of Madras Chenna Patna RI Dist 3234 fosters inclusivity and promotes sportsmanship for the physically challenged as a CSR initiative. This being the 3rd season, the event was organized on Saturday, December 14th at the Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai. The event also coincides with World Disability Day, which was celebrated on the first week of December. This event is also run by Rotary to create an awareness to general public on Para sports.

This season of Para TT is much bigger and grandeur event and the tournament was flagged off by Mr.Alex Paul Menon., I.A.S., Development Commissioner, MEPZ Special Economic Zone., Dist Governor of RI Dist 3234 Rtn. N S Saravanan. Rotary Club of Madras Chenna Patna, under the leadership of President Rtn Karthikeyan and Para TT event Chairman Rtn.Debasish Mohanty is committed to support the participants by providing them the best of facilities that includes free train fare with comfortable stay with 100% accessibility.  Elaborate arrangements have been made to make the Players comfortable and enjoy the day. Each participant will receive a cash price of Rs.1000/- and a certificate.  The winner and runner ups will receive cash prizes of Rs 10000 and 5000 respectively under each category. 

The event in its third season had a record registration of 225 Para TT players both men and women from all over India, creating a special platform for promoting this sport for the physically challenged and motivating them. The event is being sponsored by Business houses covered under CSR and Rotary acknowledges their noble gesture. The Trophies were awarded to winners, Medals and Certificates were given to all the participants along with Cash Prizes. The Valedictory function was held in the evening and the prizes were distributed by Table Tennis Legend Mr.Sharad Kamal
