Toyobo MC Corporation Launches Spiral WoundRO Membranes in India

ChennaiOctober 2024: Toyobo MC Corporation, a global leader in Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology, has officially entered the Indian market with the launch of its Spiral Wound RO Membranes. In association with BI Marketing and Services Pvt. Ltd – HECS Group, Toyobo MC Corporation conducted a grand launch event at The Hilton Chennai. This event marked a significant milestone in the water treatment industry, as they introduced their cutting-edge RO membrane technology, designed to meet India’s increasing demand for efficient water treatment solutions.

The event began with a technical seminar that attracted global leaders and experts from the RO and water treatment industries. These professionals gathered to share insights into advanced RO technologies, water neutrality strategies, and zero liquid discharge systems. Their collective expertise highlighted the importance of addressing water scarcity and the role of innovative technologies in the field of wastewater treatment and recycling.

The Chief Guest of the event, Mr. H. Shankar, Managing Director of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (CPCL), delivered the keynote address. In his speech, Mr. Shankar emphasized the critical need for wastewater recyclingand reuse, particularly in industrial sectors like petroleum and manufacturing, where water consumption is substantial. He also took theopportunity to highlight CPCL’s pioneering efforts in wastewater treatment, outlining how the corporation has successfully implemented recycling initiatives to minimize water consumption and promote sustainable industrial practices.

Mr. Eisenhower Swaminathan (Retd. MD, Saint GobainIndia) chaired the technical session, which featured distinguished speakers from both the national and international water treatment industries. Mr. Akihiro Ariji, Manager of the Technical Group at Toyobo MC Corporation and Honorary Director of the Japanese Desalination Association, presented the latest advancements in RO membrane technology. His presentation offered a detailed look at the evolution of RO Membranes and case studies from successful desalination projects in the Middle East.

Dr. J.R. Moses, CEO of HECS, spoke about water neutrality and the necessity of implementing robust water recycling systems across industries. His discussion centered on how these solutions can significantly reduce the environmental impact of industries reliant on water. Additionally, Mr. V. Sriram, General Manager of Process at CPCL, presented a detailed analysis of CPCL’s wastewater treatment successes over the years, emphasizing how the company has achieved impressive results in recycling treated water and reducing freshwater dependency.

The centerpiece of the event was the official product launch of Toyobo MC Corporation’s range of Spiral Wound RO Membranes, which are now available in the Indian market. The official launch was presided over by the Chief Guest, Mr. H. Shankar, marking the momentous entry of this advanced technology into India’s water treatment industry.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Koji Tsujino, General Manager of Toyobo MC Corporation, expressed the company’s enthusiasm for entering the Indian market. He detailed Toyobo’s future plans for growth in India and alsohighlighted the partnership with HECS Group – BI Marketing and Services, noting that it will enable Toyobo to effectively address the unique challenges of the Indian water treatment sector.
