UGADI FESTIVAL CELEBRATED AT SRI KANYAKA PARAMESWARI ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE FOR WOMEN

The IQAC, Nakshatra Students’ Council, and Department of Telugu of Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Arts and Science College for Women celebrated the vibrant festival of Ugadi with great enthusiasm on 28th March 2025 at 11:00 am, marking the beginning of the new year in the Telugu and Kannada calendars. The celebration took place on the college premises, where students actively participated in various traditional activities to enrich and uphold Hindu culture and tradition.

To commence the celebrations, the students decorated the college campus with beautiful Rangoli designs and engaged in Bathukamma flower decoration, a significant cultural practice symbolizing the festival. The occasion was graced by Honorary Correspondent Sri Vootukuru Sarath Kumar, Principal i/c Dr. P. B. Vaneetha, Vice Principal Dr. M. V. Nappinnai, IQAC Coordinator Dr. P. Baranikumari, Head of the Department of Telugu Dr. T. Mohanashree, and Dr. P. S. Mythili, Assistant Professor, Department of Telugu, who participated in the festivities.

As part of Ugadi, students and staff came together to partake in Ugadi Pachadi, a symbolic mixture of six tastes representing different emotions—sadness, happiness, anger, fear, disgust, and surprise. The consumption of Ugadi Pachadi was an integral aspect of the celebration, signifying the essence of life and the emotions that shape human experiences.

The celebration of Ugadi, considered an auspicious festival, brought joy, togetherness, and cultural pride to the college campus. The event was filled with cheer, making it a memorable occasion for both students and staff alike.
