Chennai, 21 August 2023:
The Historical Cars Association of India(HCAI), a Vintage & Classic Car Federation,will be organizing a first-of-its-kind Pan IndiaVintage and Classic Car Show on 27thAugust 2023 in Chennai. The car show in Chennai will be held at the Rayala Techno Parkat the Hotel Turyaa Campus on Old Madras Road from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.
Every year since 2017, HCAI has been organizing the Vintage Car show in Chennai during Madras week celebrations. In the early years, historians Mr. Muthiah and Mr. V Sriram used to deliver talks linking old vintage cars to the history of Chennai. This event unfortunately had to stop during the pandemic. But this year, HCAI comes back with a bigger pan India Vintage Car show. The clubs participating in the event include HMCI from Delhi, VCCCI from Mumbai, EMCI from Kolkata and KVCCCI from Bangalore.
The Historical Cars Association of India (HCAI) along with the Greater Chennai traffic police is using this event to bring awareness about Road Safety while conducting this road show. The Rotary Club of Madras is also associating with this event to promote skilling for the underprivileged.
The cars that would be displayed are rareClassics & Vintage, some marque models ofRolls Royce, Bentleys, and Jaguars. Thesevibrant yesteryear beauties include cars fromRoyal Families (Bentley of Baroda MaharaniShanta Devi), Pre & Post-war European andAmerican cars (Austin, Mercedes, Jeep), Cars of Hollywood stars (Bentley), American muscle cars(Ford Mustang) and prominent Indian classics(Ambassador, Fiat’s).
Mr. Ranjit Pratap, President of HCAI said “Vintage car fraternity of India was planning such a show for a long-time which somehow gotdelayed due to the pandemic. Despite manyhurdles and notwithstanding the rains and floods in western and northern zones we havemanaged a sizeable participation from these tworegions with almost 20 plus cars. We also haveprominent companies including MRF, TAFE,ITC, Rayala Group of Companies, OceanInteriors, VGN, etc. Hospitality Partners will beHotel Turyaa on OMR, ITC Chola, and Radisson as sponsors”
“This is the first of this kind initiative by HCAIand its Committee and we hope it will be anannual event with longer drives from Chennai toother important destinations in South” Mr. Pratap added.
On 28th August 2023, HCAI is organizing a Vintage Car Rally from Chennai to Pondicherry. The rally is sponsored by GRT Group inassociation with the Radisson Hotel. On the28th August 2023, there will be a display ofVintage & Classic beauties at the RadissonHotel in Pondicherry.
Top Vintage & Classic car collectors from all over India including Mr. Nitin Dossa, Mr. Vivek Goenka, Mr. Madan Mohan, Mr. Diljeet Titus, and Mr. Poonawalla are expected to participate in this event. From the South, prominent Car Clubs from Bangalore, Palghat, Coimbatore, and Kochi will also be participating. The Event will culminate with a visit to the famous AVM Car Museum at Vadapalani.
