FICCI FLO Chennai holds their Women Achiever’s Award 2022-’23 function

FICCI FLO Chennai held their Women Achiever’s Awards, 2022-’23 for outstanding woman achievers today.

The Chief Guest was Thiru Palanivel Thiagarajan, Honourable Minister of Finance and Human ResourcesManagement, Government of Tamil Nadu. The Special Guest was Dr. Mariazeena Johnson, ChancellorSathyabama University.

The award carries a citation and a trophy. For the year 2022-23, FLO Chennai Chapter gave awards in the following categories:

• Entrepreneur

• Upcoming entrepreneur 

• Professional

• Social entrepreneur (NGO)

• Social entrepreneur (Individual)

In her welcome address, Ms. Prasanna VasanaduChairperson, FICCI FLO, Chennai Chapter said, ”FICCI FLO represents over 9,500 women entrepreneurs and professionals across India. The Chennai Chapter is in its 29th year. We also work as mentors for university students, as part of our remit to grow the influence of women professionals in industry and other circlesFICCI FLO recently signed an MOU with Anna University to set up skilling program for Engineering students and also held a Conclave in partnership with the Stella Maris College on employment opportunities post Covid-19, as part of our outreach to the next generation of professionals.,”

The prestigious FLO Award – in its 16th edition this year  is bestowed to deserving women in each of the FLO ChaptersThese awards are instituted to serve as an inspiration for the next generation of entrepreneurs to make their mark on the world,” she added.

Ms. Sudha Shivakumar, Sr. Vice President, FICCI FLO said, “Since inception of FLO Chennai, we have felicitated many women for their achievements, commitment to their communities and the drive to make a difference. The FLO Achiever Award is a good platform to be heard from.These achievers are unstoppable as are their causes which we celebrate today and we hope that these awards inspire million other women and touches their lives.”

In his address, the Chief Guest, Thiru PalanivelThiagarajan, Minister of Finance and Human Resource Management, Govt of Tamil Nadu said, “I believe that empowerment of women and getting as close to equal opportunities and outcomes is a huge building block forsociety. A recent survey showed that of women engaged in manufacturing industries across India, 42% of them were in Tamil Nadu which was indicates the level of engagement of women in our State’s formal economy. Havingexperienced the mentorship and leadership of women in my career, I am convinced that it is invaluable to have the participation of women to bring different perspectives based on different life experiences.

I thank you on behalf of our Chief Minister, our Government and our movement because the more such achievers and forerunners there are, the more our society benefits and helps us to deliver a progressive State, an affluent economy and a fruitful quality of life,” he added.

The Special Guest, Dr. Mariazeena Johnson, ChancellorSathyabama University said, “These awards are presented for what has been done but these awards are also the start of a journey to make one more stronger.
