Harivarasanam Centenary Celebration

Chennai: On 19/02/2023 Sabarimala Aiyyappa Seva Samajam (SASS) Uttar Tamil Nadu Chennai Mandalam as part of the Harivarasanam Centenary Celebration has earmarked a great pooja with honouring of 1000 Guruswamis and the 1000 year old Kerala Ayyappan Theeyatu Pooja ending with the breaking of twelve thousand eight (12008) coconuts a ritual ceremony. For the first time in few Centuries this Great Ayyappan Pooja is being held near Chennai

The Pooja and prayers in Theeyattu are considered to be very powerful pujas that give blessings like child blessing, education advancement, career development, removal of marriage obstacles, Shani Navarthi, Pitru Dosham Navarthi, fulfillment of the desired task.

This divine puja is more than a thousand years old and the priest with the grace of Lord Sri Dharma Shasta breaks twelve thousand and eight coconuts within three hours (12008) and cures all our doshas.

Ayyappan Thiiyatu Puja is a combined worship of five arts like hymns, dance, musical instruments, painting and acting.

For this pooja, a huge painting of Ayyappan with a horse vehicle will be painted with different herbal colors. In that Ayyappa painting, the priest blessed by Sri Dharma Shasta will dance with the song. The herbal colored powders obtained from it are the Maha Prasad of Ayyappa Thiiyaru Prasad. Thus this pooja is a rarity that we do not get to see. So we request everyone to attend with their families. This worship is blessed to get the full grace of Lord Saniswara.

Kalam Preparation

The image of Sri Dharma Sastha seated on a horse is casted on the ground with the fingers. Only natural Pancha Varna powders like rice flour, turmeric powder, pachilai powders, umigiri etc. are used for it. If you worship this golam and make an offering after the malaili kala pooja, the desired thing will happen quickly with the grace of Shasta

The Song

After preparing the field, come and stay in the kolam which has been decorated with Tennkurutu, lamps, etc., pray to Sri Dharma Shasta and sing his history from the crossing of the ocean to the incarnation of Shasta and bless the devotees. At this time when Ayyappa Chaitanyam is perfect, seeing the field and worshiping it is auspicious for the devotees.

The clamor

When the Gods and the demons crossed the Tirupapalas together and got the elixir, Lord Shiva. who heard the news that Lord Vishnu had recovered the form of Mohini from the demons who had taken it, begged to show him the form of Ammohini and eventually got angry. He will act and perform all these in the show.

Mullakalpattu

A Vellari nivedanam is made somewhere outside the temple, and from there they offer the sacred weapon to the Gomaram (Samiyadi) which is suitable for the worshiped god. As soon as he takes it in his hand, divine vibrations enter him. He fasted hard for several weeks for this pooja and became Sri Dharmasastha. There he will learn the dance of “Edum Dhaga”. He will make the deity come to the temple with percussion instruments and perform Pradakshinam in the temple and then stand in front of the field. He will dance in unison with the deity who has already transmigrated on the field. He jumps into the drawn field and destroys all parts except the face.

12008 Coconut Cracking Show

A favorite of Swami Ayyappan, it is a ritual of worship with an extraordinary devotional intensity that creates wonder and amazement in the eyes of the onlookers. This worship is like the Vaibhava of Satsad Ayyappa Swamy himself directly, giving a treat to his Bhutagana Nayaks.

The blood pooja which takes place at the end of sannithan after makarajyothi is also performed with the same sangalparn. This ceremony begins with some coconuts that have been cleaned and piled up like coconuts, making it his home and sitting on it. Sridharma Shasta himself feeds his beloved 12008 Buddhas including Lord Saturn in the form of Samiyadi through this worship. It is said that all the sins of the devotees who take part in this chanting the powerful mantra of Swamiye Saranam Ayyappa will be removed. After about three hours, he breaks all the coconuts piled up and destroys the rest of the Bhagavan’s face in the field, and blesses the devotees. At the end, Ayyappan would offer that kolapodi as prasad to everyone. This Prasad is the Deiveega Theeyatu Prasad

On 19/02/2023 SASS also as part of the Harivarasanam Centenary Celebration has planned to honour 1000 Ayyappa Gusrusamis and Some Special Cultural Programmes Like Pushkala Parinayam a Dance Drama along with other dance recitals. We also planned Annadhanam for 10-15000 people that day at the venue
