HCL-SRFI PSA Challenger Tournament Crowns Champions in Chennai

Chennai, July 15, 2026: HCL Group, a leading global conglomerate, in partnership with the Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI), successfully concluded the HCL-SRFI PSA Challenger Tournament held at the Indian Squash Academy, Chennai, from July 11 to July 15, 2026. The tournament saw 48 leading squash players from 14 countries, including France, Malaysia, Egypt and India, compete for a prize purse of USD 9,000, across separate men’s and women’s PSA Challenger events.

Over five days, the tournament witnessed high-quality competition and provided Indian players with the opportunity to compete against experienced international professionals on home courts while earning valuable ranking points. With 6 Indian players advancing to the quarterfinals, the event also highlighted the growing depth and talent of India’s squash contingent.

In the men’s final, Joachim Chuah from Malaysia defeated Adham Roshdy from Egypt with a scoreline of 11-6, 10-6, 19-21, 11-7, 11-8 to clinch the title. Meanwhile, in the women’s final, Rouquaia Othman from Egypt defeated Hwayeong Eum from Korea with a scoreline of 12-10, 11-7, 11-8 to lift the championship trophy. The gripping title deciders were followed by a prize distribution ceremony where the winners were felicitated by Allan Soyza, High Performance Coach, Squash Development Authority of Tamil Nadu (SDAT) and Cyrus Poncha, Secretary General, SRFI.

The Chennai leg forms part of the HCL Squash Tour, a multi-city PSA Challenger Tour certified by the Professional Squash Association (PSA). Through these tournaments, HCL and SRFI continue to strengthen India’s squash ecosystem and build India’s competitiveness on the international circuit ahead of squash’s Olympic debut at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
