Chennai: In honor of the foundation of Madras city in Tamil Nadu, commonly known as Madras Day, Swiggy, the food delivery platform of choice in the city, organized a beach cleaning drive at Elliots Beach in partnership with Bhumi, a city-based NGO.
The initiative organized on the 384th anniversary of the foundation of the city saw participation from Swiggy’s Chennai team and around 100 delivery executives associated with India’s leading on-demand convenience platform for a cleaner and greener Chennai.
The waste collected was segregated by weight as well as recyclability, and subsequently handed over to the local municipal authority for disposal and recycling as appropriate, ensuring end-to-end clean up. The beach cleaning effort was followed by breakfast and refreshments for the volunteering Swiggy delivery executives and local team members.
